If you’re looking to spend your entire vacation in a big city, Lemon Grove might not be the place for you. But if you are looking for a quiet place that is close to everything, Lemon Grove is your destination. Here are some things to check out in and near Lemon Grove.
The World’s Largest Lemon
It only makes sense that you would find the Worlds Largest Lemon in Lemon Grove. While it’s not an attraction where you will spend several hours, it’s definitely a great spot to stop for a quick drive by and selfie. The lemon stands approximately 10 feet long and several feet tall. At the base reads the words, “Best Climate on Earth”. Of course, this is only the worlds largest unedible lemon. But the largest edible one? That was grown in Israel on the farm of a man named Aharon Shemoel. It was an amazing 11 pounds, 9.7 ounces.
La Mesa
While in Lemon Grove you might want to take a quick drive to the next city over – La Mesa. With year-round sunny weather, La Mesa is the perfect place to take a walk or hike. The city has a small town, suburban feel where the entire family can feel safe and welcome. While there, experience some of the best views in San Diego on Mount Helix, sample fine wines at the San Pasqual Wine Bar, or make your own jewelry at the Fusionglass company.
Mission Trails Regional Park
Of course, if you’re heading over to La Mesa, you can’t miss the Mission Trails Regional Park. Encompassing over 7, 220 acres of land, the park is considered one of the best in San Diego. It is full of hills, valleys, and hiking trails. Within the park also lies Lake Murray that is open for shore fishing and private boating. Camping areas are available for those who want to spend the night. And while the Mission Trails Regional Park isn’t right within Lemon Grove, it is definitely worth the short drive to get there.
Lido’s
If you enjoy Italian food, don’t miss the opportunity to check out Lido’s. Lido’s is a small, friendly, cozy bar that serves some of the best Italian food in the area. It was established in 1955 and has been serving great Italian dishes ever since.
Dirks Nightclub
You’ve explored the area by day, and now it’s time to explore by night! For a good night in Lemon Grove, head over to Dirk’s nightclub. Here you will find nightly specials, pool tables, dart boards, and even video jukeboxes. The Nightclub is also host to regular events including Wednesday night karaoke and live bands on Friday and Saturday nights.
Lemon Grove itself is a very small city, making it the perfect place to rest your head after a busy day. But just because it is small doesn’t mean there isn’t plenty to see and do in the area. Head just outside of the city to find La Mesa and the Mission Trails Regional Park. Alternatively, stay within the city to enjoy some great Italian food or nightlife.
